National Poetry Month Poster Released!

The Academy of American Poets released this year's National Poetry Month Poster this week!  The 2012 poster designed by artist Chin-Yee Lai. is definitely on trend with some of the latest art movements, yet it skips the overly digitized approach of so many other print campaigns. It  has what I would call a sort of "modern-yet-grassroots-rainbow-ombre-watercolor" feel.

Most importantly, the poster features lines from  Phillip Levine's Our Vally (one of my favorites - and most personally oft-quoted American poets)!  Levine, who was born in 1928 was named Chancellor or the Academy in 2000.

The 16th annual National Poetry Month will kick off in April and is gearing off to be a great celebration. The Academy, who has a registered trademark on National Poetry Month will be sending the posters to schools, libraries and other organizations in preparation for the event.

For information on events and activities of National Poetry Month, to explore poems, or learn more about some of the country's most celebrated (and talented!) poets you can visit the Academy of American Poet's website.
