In Celebration Of: National Poetry Month

So, I am so excited for this year's National Poetry Month. I've been busy the past four days, so I've yet to post much about it. If you aren't familiar, National Poetry Month was created by The Academy of American Poets and was  kicked off in April of 1996. Among other celebrations, The Academy, and it's wonderful web community will be hosting a special Tumblr blog - curated on each day in April by a separate poet, who will post poems, photos, ephemera, prose, or whatever other material they find celebrates their beloved medium. If you haven't checked it out, I recommend you do here:  http://poetsorg.tumblr.com/ .

In the spirit of that celebratory media event, I will be hosting some poetry material here as well, so get ready! After all, I am "The Poetrycooker." Who knows, maybe I'll even get brave and post some of my own material up here - eek!

Got any recommendations, or questions? Send em' my way!

I hope you enjoy...

About National Poetry Month and the Academy of American Poets

Created by the Academy of American Poets in 1996 and celebrated every subsequent April, National Poetry Month, the largest literary celebration in the world, unites publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, schools, and poets in a celebration of poetry and its vital place in American culture. National Poetry Month is made possible, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. The Academy of American Poets is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1934 to foster an appreciation for contemporary poetry and to support American poets at all stages of their careers. Visit the Academy's website, Poets.org, to learn more about other National Poetry Month programs.
